ZigZagCity’s route ran right through the heart of Rotterdam. The programme along the route has shown the original urban planning ideas, contemporary uses and future opportunities. ZigZagCity has taken visitors to city icons including MarketHall (MVRDV) and Timmerhuis (OMA), to bridge-keepers’ houses, the post-war reconstructions and the urban jungle near the Blaakse Bos Cube Houses. This unique housing project had been transformed into an exotic oasis 30 years after it was completed. Visitors were able to book guided tours and trips at ZigZagTravel: the travel agency at the heart of ZigZagCity.
Architecture festival ZigZagCity is an initiative of AIR Foundation, Perplekcity and UrbanGuides. Stichting de Loodsen supported all productional matters, whereat I was one of the event producers regarding all preparation and execution on several locations.
