Witte de Withstraat is one of Rotterdam’s most vivid and colorful streets, where restaurants, bars, shops and galleries can be found. Since its popularity has grown so fast, the City of Rotterdam decided to give it a new boost. Together with entrepreneurs of the Witte de Withstraat, gallery Atelier Lek created an artistic expression, an art of light.
“White” holds the theme of this new art of light, where short words refer to the entrepreneurs and the atmosphere of the Witte de Withstraat. The underlying idea of this art of light is to strengthen the recognizability and appeal of the area, and to indicate the road is an important connection between the various art institutions.

The Witte de Withstraat light art is initiated by the Association of Entrepreneurs of the Witte de With and several entrepreneurs.
Together with Joost Trines, I was involved by the productional process and communication with all entrepreneurs and residents. Besides that, we produced the official opening, with the attendance of Majer Aboutaleb.
